WATCH THE SERIES: Predator
With the release of Prey, it’s time to break down all of the Predator movies in one place and try and figure out why I love this franchise so much when I outright hate at least one of these movies. The inspiration for the film came from a joke that after Rocky IV, Stallone had run out […]
VINEGAR SYNDROME BLU RAY RELEASE: Forgotten Gialli: Volume Four
Arabella Black Angel (1989): Also known as Angel: Black Angel, this is one of the sleaziest giallo that I’ve come across. Seeing as how I’ve watched Play Motel, Strip Nude for Your Killer, Giallo In Venice and own multiple copies of The New York Ripper, that’s saying something. Director Stelvio Massi was the cinematographer or director of photography for plenty of […]
CANNON MONTH 2: Red Riding Hood (1989)
As Linet (Amelia Shankley) explores the forest, she is being followed by a wolf. Not just any wolf — the big bad one or as this movie calls him, Dagger (Rocco Sisto). Luckily, she’s under the protection of Peter the Woodsman, who thinks she’s fearless. She’s actually just the kind of brave that has to […]
CANNON MONTH 2: American Ninja 3: Blood Hunt (1989)
The third American Ninja may not be everyone’s favorite, but I feel there are still some wonderful moments in it starting with the origin of new hero Sean Davidson (David Bradley) — Michael Dudikoff, the Joe Armstrong American Ninja we all known and love, was burnt out on martial arts and didn’t want to make a […]
CANNON MONTH 2: Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects (1989)
EDITOR’S NOTE: This was originally on the site on May 31, 2022. The final film between director J. Lee Thompson and Charles Bronson, Kinjitewas the ninth movie they made together and was going to be shot back to back with The Golem, a movie I wish had been made. When reviewing the movie, the Los Angeles Times said, […]
CANNON MONTH 2: Manifesto (1988)
Filmed in Yogoslavia as For a Night of Love and is based on the novella Pour une nuit d’amour by Émile Zola, this was directed and written by Dušan Makavejev, who was infamous for making Sweet Movie. The King’s security chief Avanti (Alfred Molina, quite early in his career) is in charge of what is, for […]
CANNON MONTH 2: Cannon Movie Tales: Snow White (1987)
Look, if you have Diana Rigg play the evil stepmother in Snow White, there’s no way I’m going to be on the side of the heroes. Then again, how crazy is it that Sarah Patterson followed up playing Red Riding Hood in The Company of Wolves by playing Snow White*? And how amazing is it that Cannon […]
Dawn (2022)
I live in the literal boondocks of Western Pennsylvania, so I have no need ever for a rideshare — I can walk to most of the places that I go to in my neighborhood — and if this movie is anything what it’s really like, I’ll keep on moving. Directed by Nicholas Ryan — this […]
