“She’s Hotter than Kotter … and we got her. Even the Sweathogs wouldn’t believe this class!”
Released in Italy in 1976 under its original title La professoressa di scienze naturali and later hitting US screens via Cinema Shares International Distribution, School Days is a commedia sexy all’italiana film. Directed by Michele Massimo Tarantini (Massacre In Dinosaur Valley, Confessions of a Lady Cop, the Edwige Fenech movie Taxi Girl, La Liceale), this begins when a high school science teacher is sidelined by a botched chemistry experiment that lands her in the hospital. The school needs a quick replacement, so enter Stefania Marini (Lilli Carati in her first role), a gorgeous young educator who is barely out of school herself.
She instantly turns the town upside down as she becomes the ultimate object of affection for nearly every male, from hormonal students to local aristocracy. Among the most persistent is her student Andrea Balsamo (Marco Gelardini), who holds a distinct strategic advantage: Stefania is lodging with his family, giving him a front-row seat under the same roof. There’s also the rich professor, Baron Fifì Cacciapupolo (Michele Gammino), who has a monetary edge when it comes to getting her to settle down.
If you haven’t seen one of these movies before, as usual, two attractive guys are the best pick for her, while every other goofy Italian man acts like they’re in a Tex Avery cartoon and all playing a wolf. You have to understand — this is how Italian men are wired, and have you seen Lilli Carati? Not to be a sexist pig and be part of the whole male gaze, but…yeah. You forgive a lot in these ridiculous Italian sex comedies when she or Edwige Fenech are involved. As for the guys, well, if you find Larry Fine hot, good news. There’s plenty of dudes who look like that.
Extra points, however, for the scene where one guy dreams of being a musketeer and throws spaghetti all over a nude Ria De Simone (Cat In the Brain, Touch of Death).
