October isn’t just a time to celebrate the strange and scary. It’s also a time to put our collective horror obsession to work for a fantastic cause. This year’s Unsung Horrors Horror Gives Back supports Best Friends, an incredible organization working around the clock to save the lives of cats and dogs all across America, giving pets second chances and happy homes.
The rules of the challenge are simple: you pledge to donate $1 or more for every horror movie you watch during October, following the daily prompts or carving your own bloody path through film.
Throughout the month, our writers dived into cult favorites, deep cuts and wild cinematic themes. Here is a look back at the categories and movies that drove our 2026 month of giving!
