4. BLOODLINE: Must have “blood” in the title.
Yes, Uwe Boll made two other video game movies—Alone In the Dark and House of the Dead—but for a director of his ilk, how did he get Ben Kingsley in this? I mean, I get Billy Zane and Michael Paré. I get Meat Loaf and even Udo Kier. But come on.
Rayne (Kristanna Loken) is a dhampir, which means that she doesn’t need to drink blood and crosses don’t bother her. Speaking of Kingsley, he’s her dad, Kagan, who conceived her through SA and killed her mother, so starting off strong.
Vampire killers Sebastian (Matthew Davis), Vladimir (Michael Madsen) and Katarin (Michelle Rodriguez) have become the Brimstone Society. One day, they come upon Rayne working in a freak show. One of the beast masters tries to assault her, which means she kills him and escapes. Somehow, she starts finding the body parts of the ancient vampire Belial and then starts fighting her father and the Brimstone Society.
I’m just going to cut this out from Wiki and share this magic with you: “Meat Loaf as Leonid, a hedonistic vampire lord tasked with keeping Rayne imprisoned, and who is subsequently killed by the Brimstone Society.” Are the vampires with him real sex workers? Yes. Boll said they were cheaper than actors/
Writer Guinevere Turner was screamed at by Boll. who demanded the script. She sent a rough draft and learned that not only was the movie being filmed, she also found out that Boll and the actors had rewritten it.
Boll came back for two sequels, but Natassia Malthe played Rayne.
My life is worse for having watched this.
