TROMA BLU-RAY RELEASE: Sweet Meats (2025)

Bobby Sweet is a country music legend and the world-renowned face of the Sweet Meats restaurant chain, which he established with his wife back in 1978. The film opens with a framing interview in which Bobby is interviewed by Kerry Swallows (Kaitlin Stephens Guenther), teasing the dark secret behind the restaurant’s meteoric success.

The narrative follows Bobby Sweet (played by writer, director, star and musician Ricky Glore), a struggling, stage-fright-plagued worker stuck in a dead-end job plunging toilets. His life changes when his grumpy boss, Nick Gruoch (Andrew Gordon), decides to pass over his children—his intelligence-challenged son Jerry (Timmy H. Barron) and his ambitious, fed-up daughter Laddie (Eileen Earnest)—to hand the struggling family restaurant over to Bobby instead.

Chaos ensues when Nick accidentally falls into an organ grinder Laddie purchased. Seizing the opportunity, Laddie convinces Bobby to use her father’s flesh as the special ingredient for a brand-new burger, turning the failing eatery into an overnight sensation. As the restaurant booms and Bobby tries to balance his musical aspirations with his new reality, Laddie grows increasingly bloodthirsty, leaving Bobby to keep the gruesome secret. The film also features a special appearance by Troma mastermind Lloyd Kaufman himself, who pops up as Lloyd Duckwood in a fake commercial.

Extras include a making-of, how the music was written, a feature-length interview with the cast and crew, and more. You can get it from MVD.
