We’re gonna set a drink on fire before the movie. Get ready!

Teenage Mutant Horror Comet

  • 1 oz. butterscotch schnapps
  • 1 oz. Goldschlager
  • 1 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • Everclear or 190 proof moonshine
  • Cinnamon
  1. Add schnapps, Goldschlager and Bailey’s to a shaker with ice and shake until cold.
  2. Strain into a glass, then top with a float of your high proof and sprinkle on some cinnamon.
  3. Light it up, blow it out and drink it up!

Our second film is Demons, which is one of the best movies ever. I can’t wait to watch it with everyone. It’s on YouTube.

Metropol Demon Blood (with Eyeballs) (taken from here)

  • 2 oz. pineapple juice
  • 4 oz. lemonade
  • 1.5 oz. whiskey
  • Frozen green grapes
  1. Layer crushed ice and frozen grapes in a glass.
  2. Shake up pineapple juice, lemonade and whiskey in a shaker with ice, then pour over ice and grapes.

MEET UNKLE SPOOKY ON THE DRIVE-IN ASYLUM DOUBLE FEATURE!

This Saturday night on the Groovy Doom Facebook page, Unkle Spooky will join us as we show two crazy movies that go underground. Up first is Hellhole, which starts at 8 PM East Coast Time.

You can watch Hellhole on Tubi and drink this while you’re at it.

Hellhole (yes, that’s the real name!)

  • 1.5 oz. whiskey (you can use Scotch whiskey if you’re fancy, I’ll be using Jack Daniels)
  • .5 oz. peach schnapps
  • .5 oz. dry vermouth
  • 2 oz. pineapple juice
  • 3 oz. sparkling bitter lemon (and if you’re not fancy, you can use tonic water; bitter lemon is hard to find)
  1. Build over ice and drink. Pretty simple!

Our second film is absolutely deranged and we like it that way. It’s The Pit and it’s about teddy bear demons and shoving old people into holes in your backyard. It’s on YouTube thanks to our pals at Blechbuster Video.

Teddy Bear

  • 2 oz. apricot brandy
  • 1 oz. 99 Apples (or any apple schnapps)
  • 2.5 oz. apple juice
  • Cinnamon (to taste)
  1. Toss it in a shaker, shake it up, strain and drink it up.

  • 4 oz. margarita mix
  • 2 oz. tequilla
  • Lime slices
  • Salt, for rimming
  1. This one is really simple. Find your favorite margarita mix and mix it over ice with tequila in a salt-rimmed glass.
  2. You can also drop in a few lime slices.

The Ravenhurst Bramble

  • 1.5 oz. gin
  • .5 oz. lemon juice
  • .5 oz. Chambord
  • .5 oz. simple syrup
  1. Shake the gin, juice and syrup with ice until chilled.
  2. Pour the Chmabord over the top of it all slowly.

Tasty Baby on a Greek Beach

  • 1 oz. rum
  • 1 oz. Southern Comfort
  • 1 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. grenadine
  • 2 tbsp. lime juide
  • 1.5 oz. orange juice
  1. Mix and serve over ice.
  2. Watch over your shoulder for Klaus Wortman.

Drunken Monkey God

  • 4 oz. orange juice
  • 2 oz. pineapple juice
  • 3 oz. coconut rum
  • 1 oz. Kraken rum
  • 4-5 dashes bitters
  • Ground nutmeg
  • Maraschino cherries and juice
  • Lime and pineapple (for garnish)
  1. Shake juices, rums and bitters in a shaker with ice for thirty seconds.
  2. Pour into an ice filled glass, then pour in 2 tbsp. of cherry juice.
  3. Garnish with fruit and grab a shotgun.

We always offer cocktail recipes, but don’t feel like you must drink.

Salty Mongel

  • 1.5 oz. vodka
  • 4 oz. grapefruit juice
  • Salt for rimming
  1. Put the vodka and juice in a shaker with ice and mix it up.
  2. Rim a glass with salt, then pour the cocktail in to enjoy.

Here’s a wild shot we’re going to try.

Alien Brain Hemorrhage

  • 1 oz. peach schnapps
  • 1/2 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • Drops of grenadine
  • Splash Blue Curaçao
  1. Fill a shotglass 3/4 full with peach schnapps. Chill, along with your Irish Cream, for an hour or so.
  2. Layer on Irish Cream, then slowly drizzle in grenadine, then Blue Curaçao.

  • 1 oz. Jägermeister
  • 1.5 oz. Kraken
  • Can of cola
  • Maraschino cherry
  1. Put all of this into a cocktail shaker with ice and do your dark magic by shaking it up.
  2. Top with a cherry and you’re done. As the last page says, “Yankee Rose.”

Snake in the Swimming Pool

  • 2 oz. Southern Comfort
  • 4 oz. cranberry juice
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  1. Build over ice, starting with the SoCo, then followed by the cranberry and lemon.
  2. That’s it!

A DEADLY DRIVE-IN DOUBLE FEATURE THIS SATURDAY!

Join us this Saturday night on the Groovy Doom Facebook page at 8 PM East Coast Time for two deadly features where death is never the end.

1981’s Dead and Buried is one of my favorite movies. Yeah, I know I say that all the time, but this time it’s more true than ever before. You can watch it on Tubi.

You don’t have to drink to enjoy the movies, but we still share recipes. Here’s one, taken from

Needle in the Eye (based on a recipe from 1,000 Drinks by Paul Knorr)

  • 1 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. vodka
  • Splash of lemon juice
  • Splash of lime juice
  • Splash of orange juice
  • Lemon-lime soda
  1. Build this over ice, then fill with your choice of lemon-lime soda.
  2. Avoid nurses with syringes.

If there’s a perfect movie, Psychomania just might be it. You can watch it on YouTube.

There’s a reason why this drink is up second. I don’t recommend this one for just everyone. This one’s gonna test you as if you were a member of The Living Dead.

Biker Zombie (based on the traditional zombie recipe)

  • 1 oz. pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz. passion fruit juice
  • 1/2 oz. apricot brandy
  • 1/4 oz. lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. Jamaican rum (I’m using Tall Pines Pot Still Rum)
  • 3/4 oz. coconut rum
  • 1/2 oz. Kraken rum
  • 1/4 oz. grenadine
  • Dash Angostura bitters
  1. Combine everything but the Kraken and shake it up with ice.
  2. Top with the dark rum and ride your motorcycle out of your grave.

SPOOKY DRIVE-IN ASYLUM DOUBLE FEATURE THIS WEEK!

Buttery Ingrid (taken from this recipe)

  • 1 oz. Kraken
  • 1 oz. butterscotch schnapps
  • Cola
  1. Combine in a glass with ice.
  2. Stir and sip.

We’re following that with an Italian sequel that really isn’t one. Yes, it’s La Casa 4 or as we know it here Ghosthouse! You can see it on Tubi.

Full Ghosthouse (taken from this recipe)

  • 1 oz. apricot brandy
  • 1/2 oz. peach schnapps
  • 1/2 oz. Kaluha
  • Splash sweet and sour mix
  • Lemon-lime soda
  1. Pour all ingredients except soda in your shaker and shake them up as if you’re trapped in a strange house by the cemetery.
  2. Pour over ice, top with soda.

BACK TO THE DRIVE-IN FOR TWO KINDA SORTA YINZER MOVIES!

Well, Andy Warhol was born in Pittsburgh and John Russo is a local, so that counts for all the reasons we need to have these movies be a double feature. That’s right, we’re watching Andy Warhol’s and The Majorettes this Saturday night on the Groovy Doom Facebook page at 8 PM East Coast Time.

First, it’s time to fuck life in the gallbladder! You can watch Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein aka Flesh for Frankenstein aka Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein in 3D. You can watch it courtesy of the fine folks at Blechbuster Video.

Here’s the drink that goes with it!

Frankenstein Factory (based on this recipe)

  • 1 oz. pineapple vodka
  • 1/2 oz. fresh kiwi puree
  • Prosecco
  1. Cut and core a fresh kiwi. then muddle in a glass.
  2. Stir together with vodka, then pour into a glass and top with Prosecco.

Red Pom Pom Cocktail (here’s the original recipe)

  • 1.5 oz. bourbon
  • 1 oz. pomegranate juice
  • .5 oz. lemon juice
  • Ginger ale
  1. Combine lemon juice, pomegranate juice and bourbon in your shaker filled with ice and shake it while screaming, “Be aggressive! B-E aggressive!”
  2. Pour over ice, then top with ginger ale.

IT’S LADIES NIGHT ON THIS SATURDAY’S DRIVE-IN ASYLUM DOUBLE FEATURE!

We’re so excited that so many of you come and watch movies with us every Saturday night. If you’re up for a late night of watching and talking all things fantastic film, visit with us on the Groovy Doom Facebook page at 8 PM East Coast Time.

Up first, it’s a movie about a young girl growing up and everyone else dying all around her. That’s right — the underrated Sweet Sixteen. You can watch it on Tubi.

I’m so excited to watch this again. Also, I’m really excited to make this drink!

Sweet Sixteen (based on this recipe)

  • 1.5 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • Dash grenadine
  • 1 tsp. simple syrup
  • Bitter lemon (or lemon seltzer, if you can’t find it)
  1. Pour gin, lime juice, grenadine and simple syrup with ice in your shaker. Shake up, then pour over ice.
  2. Fill glass with bitter lemon.

Our next movie is Abby! This is a movie we’ve wanted to show since the very first episode. We’re going to go nuts talking about this one. You can watch it on YouTube.

The recipe for this one is based on one of the drinks that Abby may have ordered as she prowls the bars of Louisville.

Louiseville Cooler (we took this recipe)

  • 1.5 oz. bourbon
  • 1 oz. orange juice
  • .5 oz. lime juice
  • .5 oz. simple syrup
  • Orange wheel for garnish
  1. Shake all ingredients with ice.
  2. Pour into glass and garnish with an orange wheel.
