This Saturday night on the Groovy Doom Facebook page, we’re watching two great movies and it all starts at 8 PM East Coast Time. Becca will be joining us this week and she picked our first movie, which is Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, which is on YouTube and Amazon Prime.
Becca requested this drink, too.
Sherrif Ben-Meeker-Ita
4 oz. margarita mix
2 oz. tequilla
Lime slices
Salt, for rimming
This one is really simple. Find your favorite margarita mix and mix it over ice with tequila in a salt-rimmed glass.

Join us this Saturday night on the Groovy Doom Facebook page at 8 PM East Coast Time for two deadly features, along with our guest Bradley Steele Harding!
Up first is Evilspeak, one of Sam’s 666 favorite movies of all time. You can watch it on YouTube.
Here’s a drink that you can drink during the movie. We’ll show how, as well as ads for the film before we watch it.
Esteban’s Black Mass
1 oz. Jägermeister
1.5 oz. Kraken
Can of cola
Maraschino cherry
Put all of this into a cocktail shaker with ice and do your dark magic by shaking it up.
Top with a cherry and you’re done. As the last page says, “Yankee Rose.”
Our second movie is the third William Girdler movie we’ve shown, Asylum of Satan! You can watch it on YouTube.
Here’s a drink recipe which you may choose to enjoy during the film.
Snake in the Swimming Pool
2 oz. Southern Comfort
4 oz. cranberry juice
1 oz. lime juice
Build over ice, starting with the SoCo, then followed by the cranberry and lemon.
Join us this Saturday night on the Groovy Doom Facebook page at 8 PM East Coast Time for two deadly features where death is never the end.
1981’s Dead and Buried is one of my favorite movies. Yeah, I know I say that all the time, but this time it’s more true than ever before. You can watch it on Tubi.
You don’t have to drink to enjoy the movies, but we still share recipes. Here’s one, taken from
Needle in the Eye (based on a recipe from 1,000 Drinks by Paul Knorr)
1 oz. gin
1 oz. vodka
Splash of lemon juice
Splash of lime juice
Splash of orange juice
Lemon-lime soda
Build this over ice, then fill with your choice of lemon-lime soda.
Avoid nurses with syringes.
If there’s a perfect movie, Psychomania just might be it. You can watch it on YouTube.
There’s a reason why this drink is up second. I don’t recommend this one for just everyone. This one’s gonna test you as if you were a member of The Living Dead.
Biker Zombie (based on the traditional zombie recipe)
1 oz. pineapple juice
1/2 oz. passion fruit juice
1/2 oz. apricot brandy
1/4 oz. lime juice
3/4 oz. Jamaican rum (I’m using Tall Pines Pot Still Rum)
3/4 oz. coconut rum
1/2 oz. Kraken rum
1/4 oz. grenadine
Dash Angostura bitters
Combine everything but the Kraken and shake it up with ice.
Top with the dark rum and ride your motorcycle out of your grave.
Well, Andy Warhol was born in Pittsburgh and John Russo is a local, so that counts for all the reasons we need to have these movies be a double feature. That’s right, we’re watching Andy Warhol’s and The Majorettes this Saturday night on the Groovy Doom Facebook page at 8 PM East Coast Time.
First, it’s time to fuck life in the gallbladder! You can watch Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein aka Flesh for Frankenstein aka Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein in 3D. You can watch it courtesy of the fine folks at Blechbuster Video.
We’re so excited that so many of you come and watch movies with us every Saturday night. If you’re up for a late night of watching and talking all things fantastic film, visit with us on the Groovy Doom Facebook page at 8 PM East Coast Time.
We set up the shows, share ads for them, make a cocktail themed to the film and then watch the films on Tuvi (or on DVD if you have them!).
Up first, it’s a movie about a young girl growing up and everyone else dying all around her. That’s right — the underrated Sweet Sixteen. You can watch it on Tubi.
I’m so excited to watch this again. Also, I’m really excited to make this drink!
Bitter lemon (or lemon seltzer, if you can’t find it)
Pour gin, lime juice, grenadine and simple syrup with ice in your shaker. Shake up, then pour over ice.
Fill glass with bitter lemon.
Our next movie is Abby! This is a movie we’ve wanted to show since the very first episode. We’re going to go nuts talking about this one. You can watch it on YouTube.
The recipe for this one is based on one of the drinks that Abby may have ordered as she prowls the bars of Louisville.
This is probably the most excited I’ve ever been for one of our episodes, as we’re showing two movies that have obsessed me for years. Join us this Saturday on the Groovy Doom Facebook page at 8 PM East Coast Time! To make sure you know when the show begins, “like” the page so you get an alert.
If you haven’t watched our show, we do a pre-show warmup all about the first movie, show you an ad gallery of theatrical and drive-in appearances of that movie and then show you how to make a cocktail to go with it. We encourage responsible drinking as well as staying up all night to watch weird films.
Pour the first three alcohol-based ingredients into a glass with ice.
Add a quick splash of the soda, then fill up the rest with sweet and sour.
Everybody’s got something to do, everybody but you. Now stir it up and drink.
Our second movie is one that will decimate your mind. We’re going to Italy by way of Virginia Beach with Night Killer. You can also watch this on Tubi.
You’re going to need a strong drink to make sense of this, if you choose to have a beverage. We’ve got you covered.
Night (Pain) Killer
1.5 oz. Kraken rum
1.5 oz. peanut butter chocolate moonshine
5 oz. pineapple juice
1 oz. orange juice
1 oz. cream of coconut
Grenadine
Maraschino cherry
Nutmeg
Salt
Fill a shaker with ice, rum, moonshine, the juices and cream of coconut. Shake it as rough and hard, like you’re the night killer murdering a dance school instructor.
Throw your jeans in the toilet — it’ll make sense once you see the movie — then pour into a glass.
Drop in a small amount of grenadine, along with a dusting of nutmeg, a pinch of salt to give you the taste of a beach filled with pills and a cherry because you deserve it.
We can’t wait to see you next Saturday!
You should totally buy both of these movies. You can get Night Train to Terror from Vinegar Syndrome and Night Killer from Severin.
We’re back this Saturday on the Groovy Doom Facebook page at 8 PM East Coast Time! Make sure to “like” the page so you get an alert when we go live throughout the night.
You can join us in between the films for chat and discussion on the two films we’re showing, ask questions, request movies for next week, learn how to make our drink recipes and see ad galleries for each film!
For those of us who enjoy a drink with our film — please drink and watch giallo responsibly — here’s a cocktail. And if you’re drinking with giallo, you know that only J&B will do.
The Strange Cola of Mrs. Wardh (tweaked from this recipe)
1 1/2 oz. J&B Scotch
5 oz. cola
4 dashes Angostura Orange Bitters
An orange wedge
Put on your black leather gloves and use a switchblade to slice an orange wedge.
Fill a tall glass with ice and pour in the J&B and cola.
Add the bitters, then squeeze in the orange juice and use the rest of teh wedge for a garnish.
Up next, it’s Bog, which you can watch on Amazon Prime.
