Sybil Danning’s Adventure Video: Torpedo Attack! (1971)

Released in Greece as Ypovryhion: Papanikolis, this movie is set against the backdrop of the Greco-Italian War. Starting in October 1940, the film follows the legendary Greek submarine Papanikolis and its historic patrols. Commanded by the experienced and patriotic Captain Miltos Iatridis, alongside First Officer Vasilis Aslanoglou and a dedicated crew, the vessel is ordered into the volatile waters of the Gulf of Patras and eventually the Strait of Otranto.

After capturing an Italian crew whose engineer inadvertently reveals crucial intelligence regarding Adriatic minefields, the Papanikolis pushes deep into enemy territory. Outgunned and heavily outnumbered, the stealthy submarine hunts down an Italian naval convoy, successfully sinking three enemy ships. This daring strike triggers a relentless pursuit by the entire Italian fleet in the Adriatic Sea, culminating in a tense underwater gauntlet as the crew fights to navigate the hazards and return safely to base as heroes.

What a wild movie to find its way into a line of VHS tapes with Sybil Danning on them. I don’t think anyone would have bought or rented this otherwise.

We've bought so many movies that this is the only way that we can justify buying more. Stay tuned for our podcast and to read all we have to say.
