USA UP ALL NIGHT: Buford’s Beach Bunnies (1993)

EDITOR’S NOTE: Burford’s Beach Bunnies was on USA Up All Night on January 7 and July 28, 1996; January 27, August 8 and November 11, 1996 and February 8 and September 12, 1997.

Fast-food mogul Harry Buford (Barrett Cooper) offers the finest barbecued bunny sandwiches and the most eye-catching waitress in town. The catch? His timid, painfully awkward son Jeeter (Jim Hanks, yes, Tom’s sibling) is slated to inherit the whole operation. However, he suffers from a crippling, lifelong terror of women.

Not one to let a dynasty crumble over shyness, Harry slaps a massive one-hundred-thousand-dollar bounty on the line for the first of his daring employees who can successfully turn Jeeter into a man. Enter the frontline staff—including the eager Amber Dexterous (Monique Parent) and the dazzling Boopsie Underall (Suzanne Ager)—who launch a full-court press to win his heart. Throw in a scheming antagonist named Beula Lugosi (Ina Rogers) and a shady hypnotist going by the unforgettable moniker The Amazing Foreskin (David Robinson), and you have a tangled web of retro chaos, backstage conspiracies and madcap plotting with a romantic comedy somewhere in there between Lauren (Rikki Brando) and Jeeter.

Plus, you get Robin Blythe (a featured dancer in Alice Cooper’s Welcome to my Nightmare and a member of The Krofftettes synchronized swimming group on TV’s The Brady Bunch Hour), Kitten Natividad (do I even have to tell you who she is?), Stéphanie Anderson (whose entire career was based on her resemblence to Marilyn Monroe) and director and writer Mark Pirro showing up as a porn star.

I have no idea why we have to learn that Lauren was assaulted when young, because this is a teen sex comedy and it comes out of nowhere.

You can watch this on Fawesome.
