Troy brings Homer’s legendary epic to visceral, grand-scale life by condensing a decade-long war into a matter of intense weeks. King Agamemnon (Brian Cox) has united the Greek kingdoms, driven more by territorial conquest of the Aegean Sea than by honor. Meanwhile, Trojan Prince Paris (Orlando Bloom) falls into a forbidden romance with Queen Helen of Sparta (Diane Kruger) and smuggles her aboard his ship, handing Agamemnon the ultimate pretext to launch a massive invasion led by the peerless warrior Achilles (Brad Pitt) and his fierce Myrmidons.
Against the towering walls of Troy, commanded with noble distinction by Prince Hector (Eric Bana), the conflict erupts into bloody clashes of steel, shifting alliances, and divine-scale tragedy. From the blistering beach landings and personal duels to the devastating loss of Achilles’s protégé Patroclus (Garrett Hedlund), the narrative barrels toward its inevitable, harrowing conclusion. Culminating in the legendary stratagem of the Trojan Horse and the merciless sack of the city, the film explores the heavy human cost of war, immortal glory and the tragic fates etched into myth.
The Director’s Cut adds roughly 30 minutes of footage, restoring a darker, gorier tone to the battle sequences, showcasing the brutal realities of the sack of Troy, reframing the musical score and giving characters like Odysseus and Priam deeper narrative breathing room. The physical toll of the production mirrored its cinematic battles. Brad Pitt famously suffered an injury to his actual Achilles tendon during filming, causing a multi-week production delay. That’s Alannis-level irony.

This release from Arrow Video has new 4K remasters of both the Director’s Cut and Theatrical Cut of the film from the original 35mm camera negative by Arrow Films.
