This Cocktail Smells of Death

• 1/2 oz. vodka
• 1/2 oz. rum
• 1/2 oz. apple schnapps
• 1/2 oz. blue curacao
• 1/2 oz. Chambord
• 1/2 oz. blueberry vodka
• 1/2 oz. orange juice
• 2 oz. cranberry juice
• Frozen blueberries

1. Fill a glass a quarter way with frozen blueberries.
2. Combine all ingredients in a shaker and mix with ice, then pour over blueberries.

The second movie is the TV movie The Midnight Hour which you can watch on YouTube with and without commercials.

Sandy’s Jacket

• 1 oz. pineapple vodka
• 1 oz. rum
• 2 oz. orange juice
• 2 oz. pineapple juice
• 1 tbsp. passion fruit simple syrup
• 1 tbsp. cream of coconut
• Club soda
• Maraschino cherry

1. Pour all ingredients in an ice-filled glass.
2. Stir and top with a cherry. This one is easy and still casts a spell.

• 1 oz. high proof rum
• 1/2 oz. tequila
• 1/2 oz. Midori
• 1/2 oz. Chambord
• 1/2 oz. passion fruit syrup
• 1 1/2 oz. orange juice
• 1 1/2 oz. pineapple juice
• Dash, grenadine

1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice except rum. Shake, then pour into a glass.
2. Top with rum and enjoy.

Each week, we watch two movies but we also discuss them, show the ads and have a drink for each film. The recipes this week come from the book Smuggler’s Cove: Exotic Cocktails, Rum, and the Cult of Tiki by Martin and Rebecca Cate with some minor modifications. Thanks to Mark Dockum for giving me this great book.

The first drink is based on the Hawaiian Sunset from Las Vegas’ Aku Aku Polynesian Restaurant, which was inside the sadly lost Stardust Casino.

Cubby’s Cove

• 1 1/2 oz. vodka
• 1/2 oz. orgeat (or you can substitute almond syrup)
• 1 tsp. grenadine
• 1/2 oz. lime juice
• 1/2 oz. lemon juice

1. Shake with ice in a cocktail shaker.
2. Strain into a chilled glass and get ready to howl.

Our second movie is the. absolutely incredible Hard Ticket to Hawaii and put the kids to bed early, because this movie has it all and by all, I mean a lot of boobs. You can watch it on Tubi and YouTube.

Here’s the second drink. It’s based on the Sidewider’s Fang from Lanai in San Mateo, California.

Radioactive Toilet Snake

• 1 oz. Kraken
• 1 oz. Hurricane Proof Rum
• 1 1/2 oz. lime juice
• 1 1/2 oz. orange juice
• 1 1/2 oz. passion fruit syrup (or juice, I mean, I’m in Pittsburgh so good luck finding this)
• 3 oz. seltzer

1. Shake all ingredients with crushed ice and several ice cubes.
2. Pour in a glass and close the lid.

• 2 oz. gin
• 1/2 oz. lime juice
• 2 oz. Gatorade
• 3 oz. Mountain Dew

1. Fill a large glass with ice, then add gin and lime juice.
2. Now, it’s Gatorade’s turn, then fill the rest of with Mountain Dew. Fancy, huh?

Stepdaddy

• 2 oz. J&B (or whiskey if you’re afraid of the taste)
• 1 oz. amaretto
• 5 oz. root beer

1. Pile up a glass half full of ice.
2. Pour scotch, then amaretto, then root beer.

2. Pour out and be careful at the rock quarry.

• 1 oz. high powered rum
• .5 oz. gin
• 1 oz. Midori
• 2 oz. pineapple juice
• .5 oz. lime juice
• 1 tsp. grenadine

1. Pour grenadine in a glass and then fill it with ice.
2. Add rum, gin and melon liqueur, then fill with pineapple juice and float lime juice on top of that whole mess.

• 3 oz. ginger beer
• 1.5 oz. vodka
• .25 oz. lime juice
