Directed and written by Michael Fausti, Angel Lust plunges headfirst into a dark, romantic labyrinth where history, mortality and unyielding passion collide. The film opens in the cold shadows of 1782, where Ophelia Danube (Roe Haven) suffers execution for the ultimate crime of defying the rigid moral codes of her society. But death is far from the end of her story. Granted a rare, perilous pathway through the fabric of time itself, Ophelia embarks on an epic, desperate quest to find her lost lover Celeste (Autumn Shields) once more. Naturally, this defiance of the cosmic order does not go unnoticed, drawing out malevolent, unseen forces determined to trap her in the temporal void before she can ever reach her destination.
There’s also the matter of a film called Angel Lust, a film of an angel that must be destroyed. It’s the thing that will, to quote Professor Osric (Laurence R. Harvey), fuck everything up. As a result of surviving her hanging, Ophelia is seen by some as a saint, despite her sin of lust. There’s no control as to where each time jump will take Ophelia now, only that she must beware the anomalies in each jumpm as that points to Marcella (Susanna Louise), who is trying to end her mission.
The sales copy for this says, “Angel Lust is a dark time travel fantasy feature film exploring the themes of obsessive love, circularity, the repressive nature of institutional religion and learning to let go.” I’ll tell you that it’s one of the more interesting movies that I’ve seen this year and I can’t wait for it to find a wider audience.
