I had the awesome fortune of getting to see Charles Band’s new movie at Flashback Chicago, and what a way to watch it. I was two rows behind him, his wife, his brother Richard and several of their friends for this.
Jeff (Ian Kramer) is having a rough time of it. He wants to get his band going but can barely pay the rent. This leads him to working as night security for a futuristic sex doll company. $100,000 sex dolls? Of course. We could use these big brains to solve so many diseases or problems, but dudes have to get off. He’s paired with Phil (Steve Crawford), who hits him with a bunch of homophobic language, setting the tone. And oh yeah, he’s also met the latest model, Robotica (Lilly Bell, who was also in Full Moon’s Prompt as well as adult films like Stepsiblings 6, Watching My Mom Go Black and Watch My Mommy Go Black 6, which the last two are different series. No shaming here. She’s great in this and isn’t afraid to be nude the whole movie while actually having a character who changes and grows, when one of the employees feels her up and punches her right in the face.
Turns out that Phil is running a call girl service using her, renting Robotica out to the maniacs he’s in a sexual offender support group with. All it takes is for Jeff to tell her that she doesn’t have to do these things anymore, and in minutes, she’s ripping off cocks and pegging dudes with turbo-charged vibrators.
It’s short; some of the dialogue still needed fixing, as it repeated a few times, and sadly, the movie stopped a few minutes in and had to be fixed. Such is what you get at a horror convention, but here’s to Band for still making movies, still pushing his product and seemingly having fun. He fist bumped a buddy at the end of this and seemed pretty happy. It’s kind of like Black Eyed Susan, but played for laughs at some points, or maybe I’m just a lunatic and laugh at really uncomfy situations in public. Perhaps even a little of both.
My wife wanted to know if she should have stayed for this, and for the sake of my not getting yelled at for the weird shit I love, I said, “No, you would have walked out like two people did five minutes into the film.” Then again, we need more movies where sex abusers get castrated by robots. At least that’s what grandmother used to say.
