GENRE BLAST X: Get That Dick (2026)

Bugs (Sean Ashlet) is a burned-out Atlanta private investigator who thinks he is taking on a simple, quick-cash gig when he agrees to help a foul-mouthed kid on the run. That easy money evaporates instantly once he realizes the boy is fleeing the clutches of a dangerous, unhinged cult. What follows is a relentless, chaotic race for survival through the city’s asphalt veins before it swallows them both whole.

Get That Dick is written and directed by Josh Stifter, an indie filmmaking force and founder of Flush Studios, who cut his teeth on Robert Rodriguez’s Rebel Without a Crew: The Series (where he directed The Good Exorcist). Stifter actually started out in the industry as an animator, a background that heavily informs the kinetic, sharply framed visual pacing he brings to his live-action independent features. Alongside making guerrilla features outside the traditional studio system, Stifter hosts the Low-Budget Rebels podcast, where he champions the blood, sweat, and tears of underground filmmaking.

I really liked the grit and energy of this one, as well as the foul-mouthed and potentially violent kid in the middle of the mystery. This was a ton of fun!
