FIND ZAAT WITH THE DIA LATE MOVIE

This Saturday at 11 PM ET, Bill and I are watching a movie with a lot of titles but you can call it Zaat. We’ll be on the Groovy Doom Facebook and YouTube channels to help you survive the chaos.

Every week, we watch movies, discuss their ad campaigns and even have a drink that goes with the film. Here’s this week’s recipe.

Swamp Catfish

  • 1.5 oz. Swedish fish infused vodka
  • .75 oz. Chambord
  • 2 oz. cranberry juice
  • .5 oz. lemon juice
  • .5 oz. lime juice
  • .25 oz. simple syrup
  • .25 oz. grenadine
  • Swedish fish
  1. Some homework: The night before, place a few Swedish fish in a covered container with your vodka. Before you make this, you can filter out the fish that remain or just pour them into the drink.
  2. Combine everything over ice, then dump in a few Zaat, I mean Swedish fish in your drink.

SHIVER AND QUIVER SHAKE AND QUAKE WITH THE DIA DOUBLE FEATURE

Mate, Bebe, Mate (based on this recipe)

  • 1 oz. 99 Bananas
  • 1 oz. Malibu rum
  • 1 oz. Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz. Triple Sec
  • 1 oz. half and half
  • Grenadine
  1. Mix all ingredients (except grenadine) in a shaker with ice.
  2. Pour into a glass and drizzle grenadine on top of your cocktail.

Invisible Dinosaur

  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 2 oz. rum
  • 1 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • .5 oz. simple syrup
  • 2 oz. Triple Sec
  • 2 oz. Midori
  • 4 oz. green or lemonade Gatorade
  1. Pour everything into a glass with ice.
  2. Stir and watch out for the roar of that dinosaur.

Cat Scratch Kinski

  • 1.5 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. Jack Daniels
  • 1 oz. Amaretto
  • 4 oz. pineapple juice
  1. Mix everything together in a glass with ice.
  2. Make your eyes look crazy like Klaus and drink.

Our second movie is the Spanish giallo-esque film Murder Mansion. You can watch it on Tubi.

Here’s the recipe.

Mansión en la niebla (Mansion In the Fog) 

This drink takes some homework.

3 to 8 hours before you make the drink, take 2 lemons and 2 limes. Peel as much of the skin off as you can and save it in a sealable container. Add 3 tbsp. of sugar and let it sit.

  • 2 oz. tequila
  • 1.5 oz. cream of coconut
  • 1 oz. half and half
  • 1 oz. lime juice (you can use the limes you just peeled)
  • Nutmeg
  • Peel mix
  1. Open your peel mix and pour in tequila. Shake until sugar dissolves and pour through a strainer into your blender.
  2. Add cream of coconut, lime juice and ice (2 cups or so) into your blender and mix until it reaches a consistency you like. Top with nutmeg.

Camp Verde Barking Spider

  • 1.5 oz. tequila
  • 1.5 oz. blue curacao
  • 1 oz. high proof rum
  • .5 oz. triple sec
  • .25 oz. lemon juice
  • .25 oz. lime juice
  • .25 oz. simple syrup
  • .5 oz. orange juice
  1. Put everything in a blender with some ice and make it slushy.
  2. Imagine what it would be like to be named Rack Hansen in real life and get wasted.

Solomon’s Locket

  • 1 oz. vodka
  • .5 oz. peach schnapps
  • .5 oz. blue curacao
  • .25 oz. lemon juice
  • .25 oz. lime juice
  • .25 oz. simple syrup
  • 2 oz. lemon lime soda
  • 2 oz. cranberry juice
  1. Add all ingredients other than soda to a shaker filled with ice and shake.
  2. Pour into a glass and top with soda.

Crash Course In Plastic Surgery

  • 2 oz. rum
  • 2 oz. cranberry juice
  • 1 oz. orange juice
  • .5 oz. lime juice
  • .5 oz. simple syrup
  • 4 red raspberries
  1. Muddle raspberries in a shaker, then add all ingredients and shake with ice.
  2. Pour in a glass and enjoy.

  • 1.5 oz. vodka
  • .75 oz. triple sec
  • .75 oz. Kaluha
  • .5 oz. lemon juice
  1. Mix all ingredients with ice in a shaker.
  2. Shake, then strain into a glass.

  • 1 oz. cherry brandy
  • 1 oz. triple sec
  • 1 oz. apricot brandy
  • 2 oz. orange juice
  • .5 oz. egg whites
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  1. Place all ingredients except for bitters in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain.
  2. Pour back into shaker without ice and dry shake. Pour into a glass and two dashes of bitters.

Bikini Martini (based on this recipe)

  • 2 oz. Malibu rum
  • 1 oz. vodka
  • 2 oz. pineapple juice
  • .5 oz. grenadine
  1. Shake with ice in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Strain into a glass and shake, shake, shake.

Voodoo

  • 1 oz. curacao
  • 1 oz. 99 Bananas
  • 1 oz. Midori
  • 1.5 oz. Malibu
  • 3 oz. orange juice
  1. Mix all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
  2. Pour over crushed ice and stay out of New Orleans.

The Drink In Room 2A

  • 1.5 oz. J&B
  • 6 oz. ginger ale
  • .25 oz. lime juice
  • 4 dashes Angostura Bitters
  1. Put on your black gloves, then fill a tall glass with ice.
  2. Add in this order: J&B, ginger ale, lime juice and bitters. Stir with a knife.

  • 1 oz. Midori
  • 1.5 oz. amaretto
  • 1 oz. Malibu
  • .5 oz. Triple Sec
  • 1 oz. peach schnapps
  • 2 oz. club soda
  1. Pour all liquor over ice.
  2. Stir and keep telling yourself it’s only a cocktail. Then, add club soda.

STAY UP AND GET KILLED (MAYBE) ON THE DIA DOUBLE FEATURE

  • 1 oz. Bailey’s
  • 2 oz. Malibu rum
  • 1 oz. half and half
  • 4 oz. Coco Real (or coconut cream)
  • Dash of Kaluha
  1. Mix Bailey’s, Malibu and coconut in a glass with ice.
  2. Add the cream, then top with Kaluha.

Midnight

  • 1.5 oz. apricot brandy
  • .75 oz. triple sec
  • .75 oz. lemon juice
  1. Shake it all up together in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Pour into a cocktail glass and kill on command.
