NO FUTURE FOR THE DRIVE-IN ASYLUM LATE NIGHT MOVIE!

This week, we’re doing one movie — Escape from the Bronx at 11 PM EST on the Groovy Doom Facebook and YouTube page. You can watch this movie on Tubi, The Roku Channel and YouTube.

You may want to watch 1990: The Bronx Warriors on Tubi to prepare yourself, but you don’t really need to. There’s nothing you need to know from that movie other than the fact that it’s awesome.

Each week, we show ads for the movies and share a drink recipe. Here’s what we’re drinking this week:

Bronx Apocalypse

  • 3/4 oz. Southern Comfort
  • 3/4 oz. vodka

  • 1/2 oz. bourbon
  • 2 oz. hot chocolate
  1. Combine booze in a coffee mug.
  2. Fill with hot chocolate and blow up your mind.

See you on Saturday.

TRAVEL TO ITALY WITHOUT LEAVING YOUR RECLINER ON THIS WEEK’S DIA DOUBLE FEATURE!

This week, Bill Van Ryn, G.G. Graham and I will be taking you on a tour of Italy — comic book style — with two absolutely gorgeous movies starting at Saturday at 8 PM EST on the Groovy Doom Facebook and YouTube pages.

Up first is Mario Bava’s Danger: Diabolik, which I feel is the best comic book movie ever made. You can watch it on YouTube.

If you’ve never watched our show, you’ll be excited to know that we discuss the movies, show an ad gallery for each of the two films and make a special drink for each one. Please drink responsibly.

Eva Kant (from this recipe)

  • 1 oz. amaretto
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. lime juice
  • 1 tbsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  1. Rim your glass before you mix this. It helps to use a lemon to wet the edge, then dip into the salt and sugar mix on a plate.
  2. Place the drink ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into your rimmed glass.

Our second movie is Baba Yaga, a film I never thought we would show and one I couldn’t be happier about. You can watch it on YouTube.

Baba Yaga (from this recipe)

  • .5 oz. vodka
  • .5 oz. Chambord
  • .5 oz. Midori
  • .25 cup sweet and sour mix
  • 1 oz. club soda
  • Splash grenadine
  • Splash lime juice
  1. Fill a glass with ice, then pour in the vodka, Chambord, Midori and lime juice.
  2. Add sweet and sour mix, then top off with club soda and add grenadine to taste.

Here’s to Saturday night!
