Blindsided (2018)

Originally titled Darker than the Night, this Canadian horror effort is all about Sloan Carter, a young girl who has recently been blinded. When her overprotective father leaves for the weekend, she and her two best friends, along with one of her father’s best students, decide to spend the night. But soon, their weeked is interrupted by a violent threat.

This is Johnny Mitchell’s first feature film and it looks way better than the majority of the direct to streaming films that cross our path. It’s appropriately dark and filled with plenty of tension.

Bea Santos, the lead, was on HBO’s True Detective. Here she shines as Sloan, who is forced to rely on her wits against an unseen enemy. Sure, you’ve seen the story before, but this is pretty decent for a 2019 low budget film.

Blindsided will be released via On Demand and DVD on August 13, 2019.
