Writers Wanted!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll have several theme weeks. If you’re reading this and wondered, “I’d sure like to learn how to write for and become part of the staff at B&S About Movies,” this is your chance.

There are no rules for length and few for content other than your work should be original. Generally, we like to have articles in by a week before when they run, but we’re always willing to make exceptions.

Here are the theme weeks we have coming up!

  • October is “All-Slasher Month.” Write about your favorite horrors. There’s still slots left and time to get them in.
  • December 13 -19 is “Free Range Week.” Review any movie you want.
  • December 27 – January 2 is another “TV Week,” so show us your tube love.
  • December 6 – 12 is another “Fast & Furious Week, Part II.” The reviews on our short list that we’re in need of for the week are:
  • Drag Strip Girl (1957; w/John Ashley of Beast of Blood and The Mad Doctor of Blood Island fame)
  • The Racers (1955; w/Kirk Douglas)
  • Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry (1973; w/Peter Fonda)
  • Road Racers (1969)
  • The Gumball Rally (1976)
  • The Choppers (1961)
  • The Young Racers (1963)
  • Catch Me If You Can (1989; w/Olivia Newton John’s BF, Matt)
  • Thunder In Carolina (1960; w/Rory Calhoun of Motel Hell fame)
  • The Devil’s Hairpin (1967)
  • Speed Trap (1977; w/Joe Don Baker)
  • Hot Rods to Hell (1967; w/Mimsy Farmer of Autospy fame)
  • Pit Stop (1967; by Jack Hill of Switchblade Sisters fame)
  • License to Drive (1987; with the “Two Coreys”)
  • Moving Violation (1976; w/Kay Lenz)

And don’t forget our November Mill Creek blowout of their 50-film DVD set. The films are going fast! Help us out with a review, will ya? There’s still a few films left. All the deets are HERE.

And don’t forget about our Drive-In Friday feature that we post every week at 11 AM. All the deets are HERE, where you’ll also learn about our Show Your Stacks and Top Ten featurettes.

And we’re running a John Doe Week for December 20 – 26. Show you love for the bassist from Los Angeles punk band X. The films are going fast, but there’s still a few films left. All the Deets are HERE.

And . . . it’s back! Scarecrow Video brought back its October 31 Movies in 31 Days Challenge. You can read all about it HERE. Pick a day or as many days as you want.
